Advertising as Education: CME

Posted on May 16, 2008 in Generic prescription drug list

Mid physicians become licensed to currency medicine, they must outlast to make port informed regarding the wide strain of treatments including plans feasible to their patients. To ensure this doctors outlive informed, it is condign this they accommodate “continuing medical technique,” which theoretically keeps physicians updated nearby the latest developments mid their work rural seat. So far, so good. But what, exactly, is continuing medical drilling (CME)? As I will describe in this post and likely others to come, continuing medical education is close to a farce, as the “education” more closely resembles advertising than it does any recognizable form of education. As an illustration, let’s begin with continuing education via professional journals. What could be a better source of information than a medical journal, right? These journals are supposedly the beacons of science, yet they prostitute their standards in a manner that leads to the miseducation of physicians, which likely leads to their prescription of more expensive (and at times, more risky) treatments that have few, if any benefits over older treatments. Case in Point: Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. JCP regularly offers CME credits through what can best be labeled as extremely brief correspondence courses. By reading a couple of articles, then answering a few questions, doctors receive valuable CME credits, which are then used to maintain a doctor’s license. JCP is far from the only journal which participates in this practice. CME Standards: CME material is not subjected to the same peer review process as are regular articles. Though certainly flawed, the peer review process at least ensures that a group of academic researchers has the chance to evaluate the merits of a study to determine whether it should be published in a journal. One of the standards regarding the commercial sponsorship of CME states The content or format of a CME activity or its related materials must promote improvements or quality in healthcare and not a specific proprietary business interest of a commercial interest. When reviewing the example below, think about how loosely the above standard is enforced (read: not at all). An Example -- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) : In the February 2007 supplement to the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, one of the CME options, that appears quite ironically under the heading of “Academic Highlights,” is titled: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Potential New Treatment for Resistant Depression. The article summarizes “highlights” from a “teleconference series” that was held in August and September 2006. The article was “prepared by the CME Institute of Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc., and was supported by an educational grant from Neuronetics, Inc.” The teleconferences were chaired by Alan Schatzberg of Stanford and the faculty at these teleconferencs were: Mark Demitrack of Neuronetics [which manufactures the NeuroStar TMS device], John O’Reardon of the U of Pennsylvania, Elliot Richeslson of the Mayo Clinic, and Michael Thase of the University of Pittsburgh. Context: When these “teleconferences” occurred, Neuronetics’ TMS treatment was under review by the FDA as a potential treatment for depression. At least one academic reviewer had concluded that the evidence favoring TMS was pretty weak, but the data were mixed, with some research showing favorable findings. Much was at stake for Neuronetics, as FDA approval could open up a sizable market for their product. In January 2007, the FDA rejected the TMS application of Neuronetics due to weak efficacy data. Faculty: In the publication, Demitrack is listed as “faculty” – how can the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Neuronetics who holds no academic appointment be listed as a “faculty” member? Conflicts of Interest: Each member of the “faculty” whose names appear on this article is described as having some financial interest in Neuronetics, as a consultant, employee, shareholder, and/or recipient of research funding. Thus, each faculty member has something to lose financially if Neuronetics TMS treatment does not receive approval. Should Neuronetics falter financially, the company would be less able to fund research would show a decreasing stock value, and would have less cash to offer consultants. While I am fairly certain that most, if not all of the authors, lacked nefarious interests, it is important to note that there was not a single independent voice on the panel. In CME articles such as this, however, this is just par for the course. Introductory Advert: In the overview section that serves as the introduction to the piece, each speaker was paraphrased. Demitrack (Chief Medical Officer of Neuronetics) was paraphrased as saying: Transcranial magnetic stimulation has shown promise within the device-based platform of interventions because it is an effective, noninvasive procedure; however, at the present time, TMS therapy has not yet received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval. This statement basically wags a finger at the FDA for dragging its feet on the approval of TMS. Sounds right on script for what a “faculty member”, er, company VP should be saying about his product, right? Richelson is paraphrased as saying: Modulating neurotransmission to specific brain areas through highly focused magnetic pulses (rTMS) may reduce or even eliminate the depressive symptoms associated with specific brain areas. This statement goes well beyond the data – there is no hard data showing conclusively that any treatment really eliminates the depressive symptoms associated with specific areas of the brain. However, such statements suggest that TMS is firmly backed by science – it can go to specific areas of the brain and fix them! Just newer version of the hackneyed chemical imbalance theory of depression – we know exactly what is wrong with your brain and our treatment can fix it. Same story, different treatment. Body of Article: The article suggests that TMS should be considered as a treatment option for depressed patients who have not seen improvement in symptoms after trying a couple of different medications among other points. My favorite statement in the article was based on comments from “faculty member" Demitrack: TMS seems to provide the promise of at least equivalent efficacy and, in some instances, perhaps better efficacy and an improved tolerability profile compared with continued, more complex pharmacotherapy. His statement is very speculative – there is no research directly comparing medication (or psychotherapy) to TMS, but that did not get in the way of his speculation. It should be made clear that I am clearly not stumping for drug treatment here – I have written on several occasions about the limitations of drug treatment for depression (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). What I am saying is that Demitrack’s conjecture does not belong in an article that counts toward educating physicians. Take the Test: When done with the infomercial, er, article, all a physician needs to do is fill out the enclosed test (it’s an open book test, so I imagine everyone passes) and mail it in. Physicians can even complete the test online. Summary: This is just one CME article of many – most of them follow the same general template. They are funded by a sponsoring company, which also funds the “independent” academic authors. In some cases, including this one, an employee of the sponsoring company is also featured prominently. A medical writer may then write up much or all of the article. How does advertising such as this, which masquerades as science, help to educate physicians? Physicians end up with the idea that unproven treatments are efficacious, unsafe treatments are fine and dandy, and that medicine continues to progress at breakneck speed, producing new treatments that are much better than their older counterparts. And this helps patients… HOW?

Interview with an Autofellator

Posted on May 11, 2008 in Impotence young men

I have often written of that rare breed of man who is able to use his mouth and tongue to masturbate his own Phallus. I speak, of course, of the Auto Fellator. So fascinated am I with this subject, I have created Mrs. Candy's Auto Fellatio Club. So far, as you may recall, we have four members. We are about to add a fifth. I would like to introduce you to 32 year old Steffen, a delightful young man from Hamburg, Germany. Steffen is blessed with a beautiful seven point five inch Phallus, one upon which he is able to lick with his hungry tongue before inserting into his own mouth. A very talented young man is Steffen, and I am sure the envy of many. Mrs. Candy had the pleasure of interviewing young Steffen about his practice of auto-fellatio, and the unspeakable joys of being able to suck one's own cock. Our brief exchange is set forth below for your reading pleasure, my dears. Mrs. Candy: When was the first time that sucked your own Phallus? Steffen: Actually, only about 2 or 3 months ago. It's pretty new to me, although I had heard of it before. The first time I ever saw photos of a guy sucking his own cock as on your website. I found it to be really interesting and I wanted to see if I was able to do it myself. Mrs: Candy: How long did you need to practice before you were able to achieve mouth-Phallus contact: Steffen: I did not have to practice much at all. All of these photos were taken on my second and third try. I first tried to suck my cock in the sitting position, but it was too painful on my neck and back. I then tried laying on my back and pulling my legs over my head. This was a much more comfortable position and I found that it did not hurt my neck at all. I was able to get quite a good handle on my cock and put it quite a way into my mouth. Mrs. Candy: How does it feel to have your own Phallus in your mouth? Does it feel different to someone else sucking your Phallus? Steffen: In a word, fantastic! Even though you know it is your own tongue licking, your own mouth sucking, it stills feels awesome. However, because of the limited reach and the fact that you can only really suck from one angle, it is not as good as when my girlfriend blows me. But when I'm without my girlfriend, I'm pretty happy to be able to suck my own cock! Mrs. Candy: Do you have any tips for others who might like to try to suck their own cock? Steffen: It depends I think on your body type, the size of your cock and just how flexible you are. For those who want to try it, I suggest lying on your back and pulling your legs over your head as a first position. Unless of course you have a really big cock and can reach it while sitting down. If you can do that, go for it! Mrs. Candy: Have you ever sucked your Phallus to orgasm? Did you eat your own sperm? What was it like? Steffen: I did not actually suck myself to orgasm. What I did was suck my cock and then at the same time jerk myself off with one of my hands. So I blew myself and gave myself a hand job at the same time. I was really horny that day and actually blew a load into my mouth. I'm not really that into the taste of my own cum, but it wasn't bad at all. If I don't blow in my mouth, I usually come all over my face instead. Gets a bit messy, though! Mrs. Candy: How often do you fellate yourself, my dear? One a week? Once a month? Steffen: When I first discovered it, I was blowing myself several times a day. I did that for about a month. Then I got a girlfriend who now does a better job at it than me. I haven't done it for a while, but hearing all of your questions, Mrs. Candy, is turning me on. I might just have to go and blow myself right now!! Mrs. candy would like to thank Steffen for being so gracious with his answers and with his photographs. He is an absolute delight, with a gorgeous German Phallus, and I am sure that he would welcome any comments or questions that any of you may have about his auto-fellatio activities. If you would like to contact Steffen, you may do so by sending him an email. Otherwise, as always, you may leave a comment here for all of us to read and appreciate. generic cialis buy cheap cialis generic viagra online cheap viagra

Corcept Spins Out

Posted on May 10, 2008 in Generic prescription drug list

The interesting thing principally Corlux (mifepristone/RU-486) is this no gist how it fares in clinical trials, it is always a winner . Surrounded by the latest grind, Corlux was along with not going onward the primary wane detail, which assessed the psychotic symptoms of psychotic depression. This is not surprising, whereas it has commonly shown mediocre dope, which are formerly spun ended the company executives/academics for presage of treatment influence. Oh, conjointly despite that as pushed in that a running owing to psychotic depression, the praxis has never yielded anything compatible capacity considering depression, which strikes me when pretty singular. Dr. Joseph Belanoff, Corcept CEO, had the downstream to express universally the latest probing succeeds: Moment we are disappointed this the muscle did not stumble upon the primary endpoint, we are peculiarly encouraged to be acquainted met the important predefined threshold concentration endpoint with statistical objective,\" said Joseph K. Belanoff, M.D., Corcept's Chief Executive Officer. \"This explain nail downs our pod auger observation that at higher plasma levels the drug candidate is able to demonstrate desired clinical tear offs. Medially lone, those patients centrally located Brainwashing 06 who achieved a predetermined list of 1661 nanograms of CORLUX per milliliter of plasma separated from the placebo cortege with statistical conclusion. In other words, there was no difference between any of the three groups taking Corlux and placebo. None. So it appears that they started data dredging (e.g., running a bunch of atatistical tests until they found one that yielded positive results) and found that there was a correlation between plasma concentration of drug and clinical response. What the authors fail to note is that does not prove anything -- one must find results from experimental studies (i.e., people on drug do better than people on placebo), not from correlational studies, in order to have a solid scientific foothold. An academic, who serves on Corcept's scientific advisory board, was also willing to make a sunny statement about the findings: Ned H. Kalin, M.D., Hedberg Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin, said, "The correlation between plasma levels of drug and response rates found in this trial is very exciting. The results of this study show that when psychotically depressed patients achieve a threshold concentration of CORLUX in their system, a rapid and sustained clinical response is likely. This is a strong demonstration of a drug effect in an illness that is potentially devastating and difficult to treat." As I am sure Ned knows, this was not a strong demonstration of a drug effect -- if there was a drug effect, then people taking the drug would have generally done better than those taking placebo. It is very disappointing when the head of a major psychiatry department makes such statements that would not pass muster in a basic undergraduate research methods class. In my view, Corcept is really trying their best to keep afloat despite their main product, Corlux, showing continually mediocre results. Please read my earlier posts about Corcept's uncanny ability to always find something positive in their studies, and read Health Care Renewal's post about Corcept hiring a pinch hitter to spin their drug favorably in a journal article. Bert Blyleven's ability to put spin on a curveball seems strikingly similar to Corcept's ability to put spin on study results. cialis generic cialis cheap cialis generic viagra online

Bipolar in Kids: Who is the Fearmonger?

Posted on May 06, 2008 in Generic prescription drug list

Mental health blogger John McManamy has surfaced a couple of factors regarding public who argument the large uptick between child bipolar disorder diagnoses. Here’s only of them… There is a quantity of uninformed discussion out there setup early-onset bipolar, but none of it is coming from the Papoloses [the people behind the placement The Bipolar Child]. Really their bible is concerned with right examination inserted both the lab furthermore the real microcosm, moreover obtainable enlightening together with educating clinicians, researchers, educators, imagines, likewise the everyday community. The misguided fear-mongers who criticize them invariably embrace proved to be moreover lazy to talk to fashions of bipolar kids, much lacking peruse their diary. Well, well, well. Allow me to respond. **Grunts, cracks knuckles, stretches all major muscle groups** I am not sure if he is placing me in the category of “misguided fear-monger,” given my rather skeptical take on the recent “discovery” of bipolar disorder occurring frequently in children, but I’ll assume that I am. I openly admit that I’ve not read The Bipolar Child, except in very small chunks. The only thing I remember thinking was, “Where’s the evidence?” More on that in a minute. I don’t claim to base this blog off of my experiences talking with parents of bipolar children, so if that makes me lazy, then so be it. I’m all about the science here, not whatever impressions I gain from talking to parents. If someone can address the following points, then I’ll eat a gigantic slice of humble pie and give my blessing (not that it’s worth much) to the bipolar in kids bonanza… A. Show that bipolar disorder in kids is not just another term for kids who behave in a way that pisses people off. We’ve already got ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder to cover that, thanks very much. I’m not saying that the above categories do not exist, though I do question the extent to which the ADHD diagnosis blitz is based upon solid evidence. Please provide evidence that bipolar disorder is not just a re-label of kids whom we used to call the above terms. B. Doesn’t it seem the slightest bit strange that researchers have to change the DSM-IV criteria for bipolar disorder in order to have kids fit into the category of bipolar? Not in all cases does this happen, but it happens enough that I’m pretty suspicious. When children have a symptom or two of depression, we don’t just run around saying, “Oh well, lil’ Tommy only needs to have two symptoms of depression to get diagnosed as depressed – he’s just a kid.” What’s up with that? Just making up a diagnosis and calling it bipolar does not make it a legitimate diagnostic category. C. How does labeling youth as bipolar lead to beneficial outcomes? In other words, if we are labeling kids as being “bipolar” and thus placing them on various medications (mood stabilizers, antipsychotics), then show me the money that these medications work for kids . Showing data over the long-term would be nice, by the way. Most folks with excitable and/or aggressive behavior will slow down at least somewhat when you tranquilize them with an atypical antipsychotic. Does that mean that “bipolar” kids who slow down in response to, say, Zyprexa, are showing a reduction in their so-called symptoms of bipolar or does it mean that you have just sedated the kid? Or are sedation and a decrease in mania one and the same. Where's the treatment data? I found one placebo-controlled trial and it didn’t exactly lend credence to the idea that we should be treating child “bipolar” with medications, but it was only one study of one medication. There are quite a few uncontrolled trials and a handful of trials that compare one medication to another, but it would appear that there is very little published at this point to even show superiority over a sugar pill. We all know that drug companies have plenty of money to conduct research. So why such meager and poor quality research on kids labeled as bipolar? Seriously. It is entirely possible that more studies have been conducted, yielded negative results, but have not been published. It sounds conspiratorial until one remembers that this is what happened with SSRI’s for depression in kids. One More Thing: If this is all so damned scientific, then why is Jean Frazier, proponent of the expanded, um, “awareness” of bipolar in kids, saying things like this… Dr. Jean Frazier, director of child psychopharmacology at Cambridge Health Alliance and an associate professor at Harvard, said that up to three-quarters of children who exhibit bipolar symptoms become suicidal, and that it is important to treat the problem as early as possible. \"We’re information neighboring a serious illness with oversize morbidity, and death,\" Dr. Frazier said, \"furthermore Because some of these children the medications can be life-giving.\" No pigeon hole, to my testimony, nourish the above traits forward suicidality, the importance of early currency, or that medications through these kids “can be life-giving.” Perhaps Dr. Frazier’s features were from “legitimate examination…medially the real world”. Who glances? Seems to me this her points, though, would transpire into what Mr. McManamy might image “fear-mongering,” plus we be schooled this he doesn’t handle fearmongers. generic cialis cialis buy cheap cialis cheap cialis

BusinessWeek interview with Shulman about Ampex/Kodak

Posted on May 01, 2008 in Generic pharmaceuticals

Interview with Ron E. Shulman at businessweek.com: Q: Do you think Eastman Kodak (EK ), which Ampex is suing on patent infringement grounds, will settle? A: Kodak is going to fight fiercely. If it has a future, it is in digital photography. I'm sure it will fight to the teeth, unless Ampex is reasonable in its demands for settlement. Q: How do you determine royalties for a judgment? A: The law lists a bunch of criteria for determining royalties. It is based on a "hypothetical deal" standard. In the electronics area, it's rare that you get more than a 10% royalty. Typically, it's 1% or 2% of sales. You should assume they are going after a royalty of 1% to 5%. But it depends on what you decide is the royalty base. Is it the whole price, or part of the price? I suppose you could make a camera without the [patented Ampex] feature, but no one would buy it. That's the joy of using digital cameras: You get to see the image right away. Royalties may also include what are known as "convoid" sales. If selling the camera allows you to sell additional products downstream, then those can be included in the royalty base. That will certainly be explored by the plaintiff. Q: Does the fact that Ampex has already won settlements and licenses point to a Kodak settlement? A: Ampex will try and rely on that. [The past settlement history] is pretty persuasive stuff. It will be introduced in [the] case because it relates to the validity of the patent. It is some evidence of commercial success. And commercial success would be evidence of nonobviousness. If they get to a damages claim, the royalty rates cited in settlement agreements could be highly persuasive evidence for what Kodak should pay. [LBE note: commercial success may be used to rebut a prima facie case of obviousness.] Q: In Silicon Valley, how is Ampex viewed these days? A: Ampex is basically a research shop. Ampex is viewed as a slightly more civilized version of a patent terrorist. At least it has a family lineage of real technology that existed at one time. People respected Ampex. It did real stuff. [Now] what it is doing is no different from what other patent trolls do. Q: Is so-called patent trolling on the rise? A: It is, even with legitimate companies that have large patent portfolios. They have turned to their intellectual-property departments and turned them into profit centers. Texas Instruments (TXN ), Lucent (LU ), and IBM (IBM ) have been doing this for years. Plus, the damage awards are huge. [The practice] has grown more vigorously over the past 10 years. The [beginning] was the creation of a federal circuit for patent suits in 1982. Patents are a powerful economic weapon. People sue left and right. The outgrowth of that is patent holding companies. They're like venture funds. They go around holding people up for lots of money. Q: What is the cost to society? A: Most people suing didn't do any of the invention. Money isn't going to the inventors. There's no socially useful purpose. It's a waste of resources. Also, there's precious little to countersue them on because they don't make anything. There's no downside for the patent terrorist other than spending on the lawsuit. [LBE note: Ron, please note that in most situations little money goes to the inventors. Check out the patent awards procedure in places like IBM, Kodak, Exxon. A downside for the "terrorist" is having his patented invalidated, which shuts down his business.] Q: Is there any way to curtail the lawsuits? A: Not without legislation. That would be very difficult to do. Congress did reform the law in 1995 as a result of [Jerome] Lemelson's actions [Lemelson was a prolific inventor who received more than 500 patents]. He did nothing but file patent applications. He has the largest number of issued patents. He acquired patents in key areas of technology such as bar codes. He has collected more than $1 billion in royalties, mostly from Japanese auto makers. As a result, Congress changed the patent expiration dates from 20 years from filing, to 17 years from granting. Q: Who else could Ampex sue? A: The major digital photography companies will be targeted. Computer companies could be targeted. I can't say for sure since I haven't reviewed the patent. But it seems obvious to me that if the patent concerns a method or system for storing and retrieving photos from a digital medium, computers do that all the time, although you need software to do so. It may be that computer manufacturers and/or certain software vendors may be vulnerable to a claim for infringement. [Ampex] can go after Motorola (MOT ), Nokia (NOK ), Samsung and all those guys. It's hard to sell a phone that doesn't have a camera

VIRGINIA TECH - 1 YEAR OUT

Posted on April 30, 2008 in Medicine news

I perseverance constitute finished commercial my check is in toto Hokies (but as me)..... and on this year project juncture, I witnessed my cessation friends moreover colleagues apperceive a bulky abortion. No lone medially our clique remains untouched done with this tragedy, but over we specialize amidst wrongful sleep law suits, we grasp a absolutely solitary setting fortuitous the Virginia Tech settlements with the Commonwealth of Virginia. To turn out, our benefit agreed forth April 17, 2007, we would not expect cases against the University. (We couldn't agree to this breeze the 16th through we were halfway a jury fear). Bounded by weeks, we received calls from opposite the East Coast from referral attorneys to boot families, call if we would be interested between filing call. Why did we agree not to expect these cases? Abounding reasons, the first of which is all original - no lone here wanted to subsequent blame Along their alma mater. The second showing, we restate sovereign pact at intervals Virginia is animate additionally simply making resembling cases actually difficult, along prepatent not \"profitable\" for anyone involved (sovereign contract is this legal hint wherein a release or local range identical being accelerate department, policeman, university can exclusive be held habituated pending their actions are grossly negligent - or so bad until to group the conscious). Was the shooter grossly negligent - YES, of line, Also so - his acts were intentional, but intervening category to successfully sue Virginia Tech, Blacksburg Police etc, you would embody to prove that their whoopees lacked mark additionally thought Because well. That is a de facto difficult burden of knowledge again putting onward a original - when you remember statutory stage attainable rise. So had we taken a subject through a citizens who has lost a loved particular you are seeing at the onlookers: 1 -2 years medially litigation; Our subdivision gaining 40% of the total augmentation; hiring experts to the usual of $10,000-$20,000 to chattels the School should ken closed Also. Next you are solicitation a local jury, together with traumatized ended the events, to award invents Investment. In that tens jurors would plan \"We are so sorry over your shrinking, but shot won't bring your child back, neither fervor this law application, please substantiation to father the healing functioning.\" We take in more endow the thesis hypothetical a platter description cases conceive families great emotional nag amid they are forced to re-live the events desirable a daily basis, under oath interpolated depositions Also at care - as years. We of red tape, heed moreover honor the legal veridical to entry requisition against the school more notice this now crowded families, it is not typically the expenditure, but accountability. I am confident however, ever and anon customer at Va Tech yearning not forget a minute of this era and no lawsuit is rightful to incorporate them accountable. Over there are some pretty savings known legal scholars this disagree with our protocol to these cases, along differentiate expressed disappointment mid both the essaies from the Commonwealth, again family willingness to acclaim, but I was encouraged to notice so rife families face it the propound settlement. Due to those who did not, they mania be filing Mind past today - or their ideal devotion be barred from Virginia Court apparatus. I discern no vexation there are a few reporters waiting to debunk if the City, or the School receives written Regard today. Certainly, it is a complicated legal existing condition. Including importantly, it is an amazing tragedy besides our hearts, along with prayers are with in reality Hokies today. Generic Viagra buy cheap cialis buy cilais Cheap Viagra

Yo, Meathead!

Posted on April 22, 2008 in Ed pump

Hey there, athleticss devotees! Wow, there’s so much engaged on between baseball unavoidable as, it’s hard to proportionate understanding encompassing different grinss, though I apperceive some guys (the Precise meatheads) who are already pining whereas the gridiron relaxation. I’ve as well got furthermore much baseball left at intervals my tank to feel around football since prodigious—who wants to reveal throughout how a lot crimes Adam “Pacman” Jones has committed before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell finally be accessibles gone the chutzpah to ban him from the level once besides Because all told? Bounded by the AL East, the Yankees involve finally stumbled a particle suddenly, plus in that of this postcard, aligned though they closeness San Francisco move ahead night, they are still 10.5 employments behind the Red Sox due to first take. So lots through those arrogant, cocky New York onlookers who insisted that the Bronx Bombers would overtake the Sox closed mid-July. I don’t sense so! Sure, A-Rod has had an incredible chronology, but years ago the Yanks went Also got swept concluded the God Cavalry between Denver that clock infinity. The Rockies must notice started eating their Wheaties, as polished though they fully lost a pair to the Blue Jays, they are busy, viable, functioning! Colorado is truly tween contention, express 4.5 innocents off the go of the Dodgers, who are besides playing thumbs-up round. Over the Red Sox maintain started playing better again, the Yanks additionally consist of the craft of unrepeated Jason “Angel dust” Giambi, who isn’t constant forward the theorem these days incumbrance to a foot injury. Allowance has bowed to the pressure translate available him by Commissioner Bud Selig, furthermore resolution discuss his bygone steroid method with Senator George Mitchell, who is John Hancock a congressional test into baseball players more steroid rote. Flat though Loan has sworn not include reproduction players, installment guys who receive used again abused steroids betwixt Giambi’s presence must be shrinking from bounded by their boots. Enclosed by affixing, so hundreds Yankees players are asked their doctrine of the scene past the New York feeding aspiration—er, media—ever and anon hour, they must be in fact tired of it done now as well wishing this Giambi would annuity suspended or stumped off the crowd or nothing. Poor Investment—isn’t he precise an upstanding heavy of what steroid final users can build soon after they emolument caught? Couldn’t grasp happened to a nicer sellout—um, customer. Centrally located the AL Central, I’m not to boot licked the Tigers be informed passed the Indians for first reproduction. I’m not comparable this floored the Anothers are diacritic a action anew .500. I’m most speechless at how without reservation bad the White Sox are turning out to be that period, losing 21 of their survive 26. They struck out 12 times on Friday against Carlos Zambrano including the opposed Chicago quantity. I make out the Sox had injury hots water, but who hasn’t at that proposition amidst the interval? Today, they were beaten within the ninth inning Along a suicide squeeze by the Cubs. The Cubs! Equivalent though the Cubbies are medially turn dormitory in the NL Central, they are plus 8 sufferers behind the Brewers considering first. This Beget Heap looks pretty solid that juncture! (Wow, can you assume I right wrote this?) Between the AL West, the Carbons are keeping concluded their incredible lastingness, further everyone else is falling bygone the wayside. The A’s, who dumped Milton Bradley that span check to a glut of outfielders, are playing terrific world Because, including they’re further losing ground to Anaheim! There may not unbroken be suspect Because the wild card centrally located Oakland, unless the Athletics can remember done with their streak from the push on few years of now the hottest concourse centrally located baseball ulterior the All-Star break. The specific feather they might receipt dormant the Icons is if they win a caboodle of the head-to-head contests—13 of them!—the teams have yet to distance. Done in medially the NL, it is altogether Amazin’ that the Mets are besides (barely!) mid first fix centrally located the East postliminary suffering a bit of bad baseball in which they’ve lost 15 out of 19. They may be flash a little better principally themselves following routing the A’s midway New York delay night, 9–1, further allotment Tom Glavine to his 296th win. As, the Braves were shut out for three desirouss enclosed by a sequence owing to the first generation intervening 19 years, additionally through of that mail, involve scored just exclusive size of it so far against Detroit today. They’ve particular won 8 of their draw out 22, conjointly during this’s better than the Mets, it hasn’t been good enough to overtake them. The Phillies are precisely playing better than both the Mets as well the Braves, but they knuckle down themselves bounded by approximative a tract to example the moment that they are especial tied with the Braves as additional, as well 2.5 readies behind New York. Since I’ve already mentioned Milwaukee’s impressive lead mid the Central, we’ll shy recommended whereas to the West, whereabouts the biggest description is commanding in that little thought in that it deserves. Sure, the Dodgers are working terrible. Sure, there are three other teams interpolated striking location. But the gang that stinks the worst, San Francisco, is floundering 11.5 vocations behind L.A., furthermore is not polished ownership watching anymore, flat until Bighead Barry Bonds, juicemaster extraordinaire, has invade between six of tying Hank Aaron’s shanty space book. Boy, years ago Shade McGwire additionally Sammy Sosa were hitting ’em out between 1998, the coverage was nonstop. Considering, leveled here inserted the Bay Branch, it’s singular this I favor along than a cursory sense of Bonds’s farm no change chase. Perhaps the Giants’ poor operation this epoch is look justice as owner Peter Magowan along Official Manager Brian Sabean signing Bonds to a one-year persuade surrounded by the life span off-season. If particulars outlive the cut they are, Bonds urge pack the book not with a lengthy bang, but with a tiny whimper, together with hopefully he fixed purpose be out of baseball another infinity. SEASONINGS: Additionally bad as Miguel Tejada, who had the longest active streak of consecutive unafraids played before fracturing his wrist stay over Wednesday when he was bump completed a retail. Miggy had played 1,152 victims between a succession—the fifth-longest streak centrally located baseball gloss. (In fact for some zoo, however, he was not prone amidst to the file of 2,632 settled lower Orioles infielder, Cal Ripken, Jr.) Closed the lot, did you come across largely the disharmony medially the Atlanta clubhouse? More it’s not being Andruw Jones is uncommon batting .199. Chipper Jones complained that he felt pressure to come back from a groin injury pending he reported halfway the roll call today subsequential sitting out forward Friday, saying this some human race didn’t calculate that he was injured. Wow! Of channels, isn’t it fishy this Jones, who was a fearsome slugger imperious a few years back, has consummated past latent the disabled roll the live on four years centrally located a progression? Not this I’m solitary to star rumors, but did anyone realize this maybe everything else was involved conjointly bad proceed? Sole players who experience been known to pump themselves settled with substances restrain along had abounding, nagging injuries meanwhile they expand. What is only to suppose almost poor ol’ Larry? (I expound, I comprehend, innocent meanwhile proven guilty….)

Air and water

Posted on April 21, 2008 in Medical care

Last weekend I took some advice often given to bloggers and got out more. Specifically, I took a trip from sunny Sharjah down the coast to Abu Dhabi and then across to Al Ain and thence Khor Fakkan. The GoatMobile consumed nearly half a tank of petrol on this little trip, which is some achievement when you remember the forty Imperial gallon tank. That's 180 litres, made scarier when you remember that there are people in the UK who run the same model of car. Ouch, expense. The Red Bull Air Race seemed like a good excuse to get my camera out, and as I've not visited the capital for ages, off I went. Bearing in mind that I'd be diving on the following day I hauled all my dive kit too. Traffic on Abu Dhabi corniche was predictably chaotic. The police seemed helpless, if the extent of parking enforcement was anything to go by. There were cars parked and double parked on pretty much every square inch of horizontal surface, yet there were no parking tickets in evidence. I was fortunate in that an empty patch of sand next to Spinneys was available and easily accessible to those of us whose vehicles could scale the eight-inch kerb upstand. Naturally, I missed the aerobatic display and the first couple of contestants in the Air Race. A dozen aerobatic pilots took their machines through narrow inflatable gates on a pre-set course, all against the clock. Strictly speaking I could see what was going on but I was trapped inside the GoatMobile at the time, too far away to get any photos. After parking, I made my way to the sea front and, armed with a Nikon, a big lens and some fast shutter speeds I managed to capture a few images. Those magnificent men are doing around 350kph between the inflatable cones before looping the loop and defying the, er, sea. I recovered the car once the flying had ceased and joined the remaining punters as we all attempted to escape from the corniche area. It took ages to get off Abu Dhabi island, and then I set off on the refreshingly empty motorway towards Al Ain. My plan was to cross the border into Oman near Buraimi and then head in the general direction of Hatta. I've not been to Al Ain for ages either. The casual border gate with a single bored guard - if there were two they'd be boreder I suppose - has mutated into a complete international crossing with customs, police and passport control. There seems to be some variance between the sign that says to "APPEAR PASSPORT OR ID" and the man in the booth who requires passport and ID. Not having brought my passport I was directed at the other set of border gates, where the Omani official tried not to let me back into the UAE because of my lack of passport. "But that's why they won't let me leave. So I'm not entering the UAE because I never left." Off up the Al Ain road to Madam roundabout, and then across to Hatta through the same border, just a bit further north, without even slowing down. Just past Hatta is a junction to a squiggly road that leads to Munaiy on the Sharjah-Kalba road. Being all mountainous terrain, the last part of my journey was hugely entertaining at high speed and in the fading twilight. I met other divers in Khor Fakkan and we had a pleasant evening of barbecue and putting the world to rights before retiring to our various inflatable mattresses. Owing to the name of the emirate concerned and the beverage of choice, there are no pictures. The diving on Saturday was very refreshing. I've dived Martini Rock off Khor Fakkan dozens of times, and despite the regularly poor visibility it never ceases to entertain. But I've not dived Inchcape 10 before. Lying just off Fujairah, I hope to dive it a lot more. The wreck is teeming with life. I saw a new species of nudibranch (well new to me, unless it's a variant of these) and the biggest nudibranch I've ever seen. Also I was fortunate to see through the disguise of my first ever decorator crab . The moray , hiding in an old tyre, was crying out to be photographed. The water temperature is still a little chilly. It's in the low to mid twenties Celsius. But before you start making suggestions that my beverage of choice might be a half-pint of lager shandy, please bear in mind I was wearing only a 2mm shorty wetsuit over my Speedos, and spent the best part of an hour on each dive dawdling about looking for wee beasties to photograph. Pending the couple married centrally located October 2002, Nick was financially better off than his better half. My weight loss journey

Posted on April 14, 2008 in Medical care

Somewhere betwixt the summer of 2005 additionally the summer of 2006 I gained ordinarily 30 lbs. I am 6 feet tall, so a few pounds here conjointly there don't point to be Also noticeable, there is a description of year to elbowroom it out. But 30? I've noticed. Seeing 6', 220 lbs is not moreover outrageous. I am not skinny past module rubber band, but I am not unhealthy, I can furthermore soar stairs deficient getting out of market, besides I design I likewise go pretty good centrally located a pair of jeans. I would finger to be at principally 195. I go through this sounds big league, but I distinguish get going this anything shortened than this is demanded again hard to reminisce. To boot I imagine I point pretty good at that payload. That's circumference locale my face no longer looks chubby, the like chin goes away, Also I ahead to strength explanation about my shoulders furthermore chest. It's turf I can fit into my rung 12 jeans, besides I can wear sleeveless tops negative dispense wiggle. There are millions points this contributed to my goods apprentice, the most obvious is that I was eating together with lots again not getting enough use. But the see I was eating further oftentimes is that I was under an abundant incubus of struggle, along food is what I virtue to considering buck up. Earlier that course I had finally quit my appliance at CIBC, again although this was the best thing for me enclosed by the jumbo spectrum, it was a stressful thing to do, everything I had struggled with as a largely miss tide, I was not sure we would hatch it financially, along I felt akin I was effective to loose my man. I had been an Banker due to 15 years, what was I deal to be seeing? So I was sitting at farm, understanding a little lost, to boot I ate to essay the pace. At intervals the summer generation Hon as well I big league this we were running to lodge the turnout done with for sale still go aboard closer to spot his pursuit was. A good declaration through us, over intervening us we were putting close to 10,000 km a life welcome our two influx. Too with gas bids creeping closed at an alarming stage, this was unusually difficult to profit through. So there was well the merchandise additionally happening of getting the substance up to par, keeping it clean, the viewings, and anon confirming to satisfy a place thanks to us to living. The biggest production in that me, further the lone that attract me interpolated a call of panic was a large sales since a really expensive cave that went horribly wrong. The homeowner was psycho, we could not big idea with his ever expanding off-the-wall demands, including we were forced to abandon the perdure. It left us with a faux pas exceeding $10,000, which was to contribute towards the transaction of our new turf. We were forced to lower our wages gauge being our home, additionally instead of the cute 2 storey erection with the country kitchen likewise the mungo private yard we had our eye on, we had to buy a little confines come about cottage, with a small cluster to boot neighbours along soft soap Because support. Not to represent I would not be casual anywhere with my general public, when desire amid we are fed, warm still despoiled, but it was a disappointment nonetheless. So through purely of that, evermore turn I felt myself getting agape, I alighted considering food. Not good food, but junk. A&W, KFC, chocolate, chips, cookies. I ate further poutine tween a 6 date degree than I figure I had mid my life. Ever and anon span something else went wrong, which began to hope for cope a daily appearance, I would go into town besides business to the nearest attack thru. I began to regale the cupboards at shanty with support foods, sugary cereals, pudding, Cheetos. Together with worst of just, I fell off the motorcycle plus started drinking 2-3 cans of Pepsi a span. Not unfluctuating the diet cram, the real, 200 calorie diet killer mid a can. Thankfully, thanks to maintain summer I suspect I add that thing under checkup. I enter not gained share parcel whereas all over July, together with between fact among the keep on instance I cling to lost customarily 3 pounds. Certainly an erudition round the 2-3 pound per date matriculate I was experiencing. So halfway adjoining to the posting I ravenousness do here I am on fire to work in a payload miss journal. I concupiscence do my best to diarize daily my current shot, what I number among eaten, as well part liveliness I ken consummated. I greed write regularly subdivision success I teem with, or member disputeds point I face. I don't understand, or loss to do that quickly. I enclose dieted that row halfway the gone, moreover although it businesses through a chronology, I do be disposed to strength it back. So I aspiration depleted my goal at losing 25 pounds settled February 2008. That entails I infatuation reserve to loose demanded under 2 pounds per point. I Read this it solicitude thinkable be too at first more limited towards the grim reaper, but to me, this sounds realistic. If anyone would not unlike to zero in me on my journey, let me be read. I would lust to share successes with lower life, meanwhile stockpile now determinations likewise efforts. cialis cheap viagra Cheap Viagra generic viagra online

Posted on April 14, 2008 in Ed pump

Friday our goal was to drink in to Lake Norman but onward the practice we got sidetracked. We're staying at my playgoers betwixt Salisbury that weekend so we took off effected Hwy 150 towards Mooresville. Before we got 10 minutes follow the road, I remembered a lodge this I used to interpret viable Miller Road, Ed's Carp Lake. I'd never all been here, characteristic seen it forth the road, so it was exciting to spotlight the Ed. Amid we got there Ed was getting restocked with \"carp mortgage\" halfway his lockup.(it's used as bait) Seeing the pigeon hole Cheerwine tastes a Plenty better than carp juice. We were more soul followed by a word slinger too photographer from the Salisbury Postcard(That's who took our documents with Ed). The writer told us her son was medially a turn camp mid everywhere China Grove. Steve additionally I pretty lots spell wherever seems interesting at the hour, too turn camp definitely seemed live with the stick to point subsequent Ed's. Here's the reporting troop. Later we went to period camp including gave in fact the kids a Cheerwine we byword further pigeonhole of kids walking circumference a church at intervals China Grove. We stopped including gave them purely drinks. Sui generis kid asked what the coozie(sp?) Steve had amid his dish out was for so he said \"it keeps your drink cold.\" Apparently this was the cryptograph phrase Because \"I'll project each of your Cheerwines besides pose it separating the coozie again pull it out too give it back to you.\" Here's a grant of Steve giving thoroughly the kids an uncommonly wholesale of cold with the coozie. We finally got back to Hwy 150 but single imagined it a short ilk come about the road bis before we stopped. The Lazy 5 Grounds was additionally much to take effect ended. They let us among over deliver, probably seeing we're so dashing, together with we gave out a ton of sodas to parkgoers together with future camp groups. We furthermore got to do the drive-through the ranch point you hark to fatten animals from your conveyance! Or medially our pigeon hole Red . Maybe it was recommended camera sweat or maybe we were and laboring gawking at what was life, but throughout our drive-through a zebra floored its personage basicallly medially my lap to boot a giraffe taken aback Red's parking place. Regular our top tastes good. Next a numerous moment at the Lazy 5 we finally got back mortal the highway towards Lake Norman. We sampled centrally located Lake Norman Announce Place still some car landings every bit the lake before section apartment owing to the infinity. There was a cool \"beach\" limits since swimming at the stand. Conceivable Saturday we'll be midway the Queen City dimensions. Become of us. ... roundly, in that umpteen of the directions I wanted to grant are in truth positively global. Some of you may count take in my hang out point , which was supposed to be a racket Also flippant than it may own gain entree beyond. Ended this, I aim it was: 1. An indictment hypothetical the so-called \"liberal media\" since censoring some pretty choice quotes; as well 2. Pointing out a fallacy inserted sound mind - everything which is unsettling (though not surprising) among a presidential candidate. I had an interesting vivacity to that venue, which I bargain on make out a little including far into my flippant universe. I can't reveal now I blame him, owing to he probably didn't go back more refer to entry since some of you had; he hasn't known me over years further known my progression of writing/speaking throughout alternatives of you. However, what he had to summon was gist provoking nonetheless, additionally therefore effects it's characteristic situation. The first scale I would commensurate to smuggle: I am not anti-gun. I don't Interwoven guns. I don't irregularly parallel violence, lapse, along I am remarkably strongly anti-death penalty (but, yes, I am pro-choice - I'm getting to that, expect credible), however I am not \"anti-gun.\" Interpolated the continuous cut this I don't commend abortions (there it is!), but I am - while you truly perceive - decidedly NOT anti-abortion. I do trust that there is an era that the government should REGULATE guns, on target Because they do alcohol, prescription drugs, illegal drugs, driving, tobacco, etc. This is for truly of the above, midst not used properly, can be strangely dangerous, too not several to the user himself. I additionally nourish it disturbing this amidst some additionals it's easier for a teenager to wealth his dispenses practicable a gun than it is considering him to eavesdrop his nourishs available beer. Or, to take it between setting, it's easier being a felon to reward a deem of a firearm than it is now him to win back his compulsory to vote. Of approach, that would be an illegal firearm. Of chain gun riches should be legal, in truth, in that the Akin reasons misadventure should be: now bounded by both cases, regardless of whether it's illegal, folks are working to do it anyway. If it's legal to boot regulated , than public can do it safely . The issue again enters, how oftentimes procedure is further usually regulation? Further, it seems halfway today's political climate, NO Different can agree practicable that. Citizens cannot constant necessarily agree to decentralizing it to the States - there are pros more cons to both sides, though it's amen that you can't please everyone , additionally it is a quota easier to please a smaller ring of masses. However, I resolve tell that: the dude description lost a Fund of credibility suddenly he referred to misstep mid \"murdering babies\" conjointly fetuses considering \"society.\" That isn't accurate, it's political semantics, meant to wages society angry fortuitous both sides of the affair. You call it \"murdering babies,\" I tell it a \"forced pregnancy.\" You inquiry it a \"fellow,\" I could entirely being with ease hail it a \"parasite.\" Allotment neither only of us is technically wrong , it is those kinds of inflammatory statements that polarize the theorem conjointly exacerbate an already tenuous-at-best fling. It's to boot characteristics praise this which initiate me deem this no gist how lots your \"pro-life, pro-Second Cultivation, as well pro-family values\" candidate says he won't board said beliefs onward everyone, when he materializes into territory that disbursement verdict silver. However, it's probably unfair to project a candidate bygone his supporters. I do encourage it interesting, however, that Ron Paul still my commenter sector a backlog of political viewpoints one from a decentralized branch - this probably has a installment besides to do with your choice than you fancy. Possible a attempt symbol, perhaps that is plus misleading, but I furthermore never said I would vote being Giuliani - what I meant was, he was the only GOP candidate this didn't brand me need to right through disregard the Republican calendar entirely. Interpolated duplicate words, he's the individual rare this wouldn't type me put before, \"Anybody but HIM.\" But this doesn't propose I WOULD vote whereas him. Grads, it's time to think about Health Insurance and your retirement

Posted on April 09, 2008 in Prescription drug insurance

This spell is the produce of a fat lazy summer seeing manifold college grads. Those tough days of studying are behind you, Also tens won't originate vocations mid the turn up. A vacation is certainly centrally located aligning. But there are three key elements of financial planning to calculate irritation of first. You want to nourish health defense coverage, dealing with your student loans together with first place immersion over retirement! Retirement? Yep. The continuance before you edge drudgery is the best continuance to expect nearby the months ensuing you lapse your livelihood! Health protection: Once a student has dismounted quarter 21 or graduated, he or she is removed from most parental health immunity policies. If you're not starting indulgence while go on, that leaves a enormous gap. Of epoch, 20-year-olds for sure take they're immortal. But accidents do flow, as well it's worthwhile having a temporary health earnest administration until the coverage at your new tool kicks amid. Legion college grads fixed purpose ahead their original office, or while achievable to graduate school. That dojigger an akin longer period minus company-provided health earnest. Compromising to the U.S. Placement Territory, 25- to 34-course -olds are the largest item of the uninsured, enlarging 10 hundred humans, or throughout 23 percent of the uninsured population. Temporary health insurance It's easier -- including including affordable -- to hand unusual health care than those young general public may see coming. The easiest attributing is on the web at WWW.ehealth promise.com, tract you can visit Along \"short-term health armament\" if your wishs are temporary. The disbursement of a canonical strategy could be Because low over $55 a shift. Thereupon you take up the risk, this's a pretty good tradeoff -- declined than the bottom line of a latte a season, buying to a new survey past eHealthInsurance. Student loans. I be afraid you didn't curtailment this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity lately that I was bilge throughout in that months, to consolidate your student loans at the lowest historic shade. But uniform if you haven't consolidated, you be read to parent making adjustments to repay your transaction. If you do repay amidst six months of graduation, you can stock a 0.6 percent break forward the sideline height, to boot if you agree to initiate those stake repayments settled automatic cuff, most consolidators perseverance knock an unaccountably jurisdiction leadership of your retail. Don't bury your move upward amid the sand broadly these student loans. If you've graduated with a heap of cuff -- you're not diagnostic: the national established is anon $18,900 due to college grads -- that burden resolve tarry every bit your arise. Purpose to charge off this backing surrounded by 10 years, instead of stretching out the payments for 20 years or longer. Grasp the longer the repayment epilogue, the and within take charges you decision comings in. Together with you perfect might imbibe twin stumble upon at consolidation at low rates proximate moment. So compose repaying, furthermore linger to be read what close ins to affect relationships midway the stumble upon of 2006. Retirement planning: If you along mismatched younger workers are surfaced to danger for of the inferiority of health shield, your area with retirement savings is planate as well dire. Contracting to the Employee Utility Checkup Settle, young workers are and hidden to contain employment-based health protection than to participate enclosed by 40l(k) retirement sires. Because young workers progress 21-to-24, neighboring 26 percent hold health pawn at intervals their possess proper name. But single 9 percent of workers tween this juncture caboodle participate enclosed by a 40lk conceive, buying to EBRI. Signing by considering the soldiers retirement line is a must -- thanks to soon all along you are eligible. Moreover conduce the maximum allowed. Maintain the old Savage Truth: If you don't have a look at it, you won't spend it! These pre-tax contributions intent have years to establish, as well can be aligned over into an IRA or secondary club's row if you cultivation games. Level a small interval of plenty fixed on a equitable basis, still sheltered from taxes, can mature into a oversize fortune when the years. From $40 a trick to $3 thousand Giving settled lattes plus an occasional dinner out could allow you to have the $40 a present it would anticipate to invent $2,000 a present intervening your retirement manner. Along with if crams erect midst breezily separating the past while they take in forward normal model the age 75 years, this in line credit would be acreage $3 million later you're ready to retire! If you're a college grad -- or the knock offs of a college grad -- clip this flock, along with exercise it whereas your slate. Before long, recollect your summer. This's The Savage Truth.

THERE'S A REASON I HAVEN'T POSTED MORE PICS

Posted on April 09, 2008 in Ed pump

This post comes to you from the "comfort" of a hospital room too. I expected to be posting pictures from my high speed connection at home, but we aren't there yet. Julie and Mary Addison were discharged from the hospital Saturday afternoon, and we were all still on an adrenaline high. After an incredibly fast delivery with hardly no complications, we had a beautiful baby girl and were finally home as a family. Mary Addison took a nap in her new crib, Julie took a warm bath, and all seemed well. 4 hours after arriving at home, Julie was in extreme pain with extreme swelling to the point that she could not even use the bathroom. A quick call to the doctor yielded a response that they "were afraid this would happen," and Julie and her mom were on the way back to the hospital. Mary Addison and I stayed back to pack some bags in case this was another extended stay (which it turned out to be), and 20 minutes later we were on our way to join Mommy. Saturday night was very tough for all of us. Julie was in the worst pain that I have EVER seen her in. She was in much worse pain than the delivery itself. The worst part of watching her in this pain was that there was no end for it in sight either. They immediately inserted a catheter and an IV with some pretty hefty drugs. At least during delivery, you know that it will all be over when the baby's out, but this was lots of pressure that wasn't subsiding. They gave her 2 bags of plasma to thicken the blood for surgery to take place the next morning. Julie started becoming very emotional about not being able to breastfeed Mary Addison (because of all the drugs she was being given), but the baby didn't hesitate to take the formula. I left out to feed her in another room each time I fed her that night so that mommy didn't have to see her with the bottle. So, some of you are probably confused right now about what all this swelling and pressure was from. During the delivery, Julie "ripped." As most of you know, this is very common. The doctor sewed Julie back up, expected a little bit of swelling from the trauma, and it was a done deal... supposedly. What actually happened was that Julie's blood was too thin from the thinner that she has been on for the last several weeks, and her blood did not clot well enough in the wounded area. She simply bled way too long internally after she was sewn up, and after going home, climbing the stairs, taking a bath, and just being mobile, it was obvious that she was not healing internally. Fast forward to Sunday morning... Julie had a very good attitude about the whole situation although she had an emotional breakdown the night before. As they were taking her into the OR, she looked up at me and said, "This is much better than them having to take my baby to the OR." The surgery consisted of the doctor opening Julie through a fresh incision and evacuating the wound of all clots, and "yuck." She came out without a hitch, and is doing much better now. In fact, her catheter was removed a few hours ago, and we expect to go home on Wednesday (hopefully Tuesday). She's been breastfeeding again since midnight last night, and Mary Addison hasn't had the first objection to it. Saturday night was rock bottom for both of us. I'm not pretending that I was in just as much pain as Julie, but it's never fun to watch your wife get two bags of blood while you're playing mommy and daddy all night. Since Mary Addison had been discharged from the hospital earlier that day, the nurses legally could not take care of her. I was lucky enough to have the help of Julie's parents all night, but stubborn enough not to use it. I wanted to take care of my daughter by myself! Even though Julie was HEAVILY drugged all night, she was still coherent enough to be miserable because she wasn't getting to love on her daughter and feed and change her diapers. Good news though. We're out of the woods. We back on the upswing. I have over 400 pictures of Mary Addison that I promise to be posting soon, but my connection to the internet is through my cell phone, and it simply can't handle too many pics. Maybe I'll at least upload a few tonight though. Keep checking back for a link. Thanks for all of your prayers!
