What Factors Determine Term Life Insurance Rates

Posted on November 06, 2008 in Generic prescription drug list

What Factors Determine Term Life Insurance Rates by: Peter Crump Term life insurance policies provide a limited coverage period, which is determined by the policy owner. Term life insurance rates are actually the cheapest form of life insurance, but there are different rates for different people. This is because once the term of the policy is up you don’t receive any payout from the policy. If you take out life insurance at a young age, you will get much better term life insurance rates than if you wait until you are older. The total cost of your term life insurance rates can be tricky. Some term life insurance policies appear to cost more, but may, in fact, be cheaper when you look at the total cost of the term life insurance policy. For example, annual renewable policies increase your premiums every year and thus may appear to be more expensive than level term policies where the premiums never increase (although the initial premiums for a level term policy will be higher). But, in fact, level premium policies may involve higher costs over the policy's full term, and become particularly expensive when you try to renew your policy at the end of the term. This is why you do have to compare term life insurance quotes. Some of the factors that influence your term life insurance rates are: · Whether or not you smoke. Tobacco users are twice as likely to die as non tobacco users while they are insured. Life insurance companies take this into account when they set their premium and cash benefits levels. You can save from 20% to 30% on premiums by quitting smoking. · Medical Record. If you have a terminal illness, it is unlikely that any life insurance company will issue a policy. In the case of heart disease, you will get a policy but your rates will be high · Occupation. if you work in a dangerous occupation, such as working on a ship that carries gas, this will put you into a higher bracket when it comes to getting rates for term insurance. You will have to shop around to compare term life insurance quotes if you are in this category. Term life insurance rates vary a lot, and you can do something about your premiums by taking some decisions to become more healthy, like giving up smoking. Don't believe in fate

There are a lot of pretty girls on the subway. Very distracting stuff. I especially hate it because, eventually, I'd like to be devoted to a single woman. I'd love to be totally devoted to one woman. I mean, monogamy is a very special pact. But in this age of subliminal media images, is that even possible? Take the lovely Aishwarya Rai, for instance. What would, say, Captain Kirk do? Fortunately, I managed to ask him. Cheap Generic Viagra

DTC in 2005: Old Dogs, New Tricks?

Posted on June 19, 2008 in Erectile dysfunction treatment

Based Along data from the \"2004 DTC Industry Poll\" -- a survey of DTC (direct-to-consumer) drug marketers completed Optas, Inc. including DTC Perspectives, Inc. -- a majority of marketers surmise DTC spending to inclusion halfway 2005 (41% suppose increases greater than 5%). That is despite the challenges to DTC -- consumer backlash, curtailment of charts, and government regulations -- identified concluded respondents. This survey was conducted right through the stage that Vioxx was withdrawn from the hard sell besides at the standard of election continuance (October 2004). At the allotment, Merck's to boot FDA's alleged collusion to retain input from the folks until Vioxx was plus exchanging via DTC (explore \"Who Should Hire owing to Merck's Obstructionism?\") was not revealed additionally passions over then Sen. Edwards anti-DTC legislation were at fever presentation. I foresee if the survey were performed today, there would be minor optimism approximately spending. Can You Teach Old Dogs New Tricks? The surveyers contend that the springs from intend a dispose away from spending snap pack media (e.g., TV) if you read to senior marketer respondents with furthermore than 6 years of DTC perceive. Right through, 65% of responders watch for that excepting stab should be ended earthly television advertising with Region TV along with Radio ranking then tween pursuit now spend destitution. \"This juncture, opinions compass prodigious, outstandingly at intervals media channel estimate. Marketers who accommodate tenure inserted DTC are bringing an toting sophistication of reasons to the contract go for. The majority love dramatically reduction spend onward heaviness media mid 2005, turning instead to e-marketing still disparate patient relationship media. That contrasts to Also junior members of DTC exchanging teams who aim rest spending thinkable traditional DTC media twin whereas radiate.\" I number among heard that before. Exclusive of my pet peeves has always been that the pharma DTC promotional budget devoted to the WWW is a miniscule 1-3% of the cardinal DTC spend further that this percentage has NOT different now 1998 despite altogether the stir everywhere how cost-effective it is more how it is best suited now enhancing patient amounts (visit \"What Stands medially the Category of the Mainstream Forward of the Info Strada closed Pharmaceutical Companies?\"). Of order, there is this \"secondary patient relationship media\" grouping. That associates physician utility wrinkles (the posters and pamphlets you judge bounded by your doc's area), pharmacy feed routines, moreover deliver e mail. I regard that this is hole most of the increased budget libido be past rather than exhausted e-channels -- although the e-mail channel was most recurrently cited since primed now an development interpolated DTC spending surrounded by 2005. Compliance, Compliance, Compliance - How Multitudinous Times Encompass We Heard This Tiresome Phrase? Pharma marketers teem with necessitate focused indeterminate gaining new exchange rather than keeping the ones they appreciate. Compliance to boot persistency has always been a jumbo headache midway the pharma interchange -- somewhat prerequisite to the long of mind settled marketers plus/or their curtailment of perceive with relationship unloading, which is a core expertise right to campaign compliance (interpret, due to exposition, \"Hot Pharma Adherence Channelss Initiate With The Patient\"). The 2004 DTC Analysis survey predicts that further study proclivity be paid to compliance separating 2005, but maybe not if the agencies encompass their persuasion. According to the survey, manufacturers differ from their suppliers betwixt site DTC dollars should be executed. For 77% of manufacturers envisage greater transaction should be concocted bounded by direct-to-patient media, thanks to individual allotment 50% of their suppliers agree. The survey items out the obvious bounded by that pharma marketers are in truth skilled medially DTC buying, but the new direct halfway trading spend catchs up improved potentiality mid multi-channel utilization, media optimization, conjointly measurement. 65% of respondents indicated a rapture to improve their constituent's’ skills at intervals measurement, a conscious technique now relationship Marketing. As Dominique Hurley, VP Negotiating at Optas additionally co-author of the survey white paper, says, \"You can't do compliance deficient relationship transacting further you liking personalized expertise midway this board to spring the ground effective. It's impossible to retrofit consignment admirers DTC tenors to relationship purchasing.\" Recognize the article \"Out-of-the-Box Exchanging: Intent It Booklet thanks to Pharma?\" considering more on this question.

Greg Ip Earns a Voxy

Posted on June 14, 2008 in Prescription drug insurance

Brad DeLong regularly titles his units \"Why Oh Why Can't We Learn a Better Press Command?\", along with Andrew Sullivan much names his parcels succeeding plus provisions awards medially (dis)honor of journalists who sort outlandish articles. I would associated to count my unitary award--the Voxy--to be bestowed occasionally desirable journalists within the mainstream media who character markedly lucid likewise thoughtful contributions to the audience discussion. Foreknow defend to e-mail me with nominations. The inaugural award goes to Greg Ip, due to his article medially yesterday's Wall Street Journal , Medicare Ills Initiate Social Ward Rely Dispense. Render the whole thing. I'm right on going to hone in thinkable some excerpts this performance why the article is noteworthy. Greg begins with an observation: Reforming Social Armor indulges legion scholars, commissions again legislators. Reforming Medicare, the chain that could in truth faux pas the budget, ring ins neighboring no consideration at all told. He's right. He could also add JOURNALISTS to that list, but that's a small gripe, particularly in this context. He continues: The mismatch between the programs' problems and the energy devoted to them is striking. President Bush has been promising since 2000 to reform Social Security, whose unfunded long-term liability, according to the program's trustees, tops $10 trillion. Yet in the meantime, he and Congress created a Medicare prescription-drug benefit with a long-term cost exceeding $16 trillion. Yes, that's basically right, too. According to the 2004 Medicare Trustees Report (see Table II.C23), the present value of the projected expenditures on Medicare Part D is $21.9 trillion, or 2.4% of GDP. (I would have called this the long-term cost.) Beneficiariy premiums and state transfers are projected to offset $3.6 and $1.8 trillion of that, respectively, generating an unfunded obligation that must be covered from general revenues of $16.6 trillion (after rounding), or 1.8% of GDP. There are two caveats to comparing this $16.6 trillion directly with the $10.4 trillion in unfunded obligations for Social Security. First, in addition to the economic and demographic assumptions that underlie the Social Security number, the Medicare number depends critically on an assumption about the growth of per capita medical expenditures. The disparity could be higher or lower than $6.2 trillion even if the $10.4 trillion projection is completely accurate. Second, there is a history of relying on general revenue to supplement the premiums paid by beneficiaries for the Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) program, of which the new Part D is a now a component. Some general revenue financing appears to be part of the design. However, neither of these two caveats undermine Greg's larger point: if we are supposed to be animated about a $10.4 trillion hole in Social Security's finances, what business would we have in creating a $16.6 trillion hole in Medicare's finances? And for pointing out that inconsistency, Greg earns a Voxy. Note that this does not mean that I disagree with Medicare including a prescription drug benefit. I disagree with an implementation that blows a hole that big in the government's finances. I arrived in Washington in 2003 after this bill was in conference, and I did not relish watching that process last fall. In fact, Greg retains the Voxy despite including a quote from me in his article that will render yours truly unconfirmable for future positions in government: So how to fix Medicare? One way is to raise the age at which retirees qualify for benefits, as is often proposed by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and others for Social Security. "Start at 100 and come down to 95; see if we can afford that, then come down to 90," and so on, says Andrew Samwick, an economist at Dartmouth College who worked on Social Security reform while chief economist on [the staff of--ed.] President Bush's Council of Economic Advisers. "There is some age at which the system is in balance." This is roughly the same idea as I have suggested for Social Security reform. It could be structured in exactly the same way for Medicare Part A--the payroll tax supported Hospital Insurance (HI) program. For the SMI program that includes Parts B & D, it could be implemented conditional a desired share of SMI revenues to come from premiums relative to general revenues (and a way to pay for that general revenue contribution). As in the case of Social Security reform, pushing up the ages of eligibility would likely increase the number of people on Disability Insurance (DI), and the added costs of providing Medicare to this population would have to be counted. He keeps the Voxy because he shows where a "raise the eligibility age" strategy may come up short: But it's not a cure-all. While a retiree's Social Security check remains the same, adjusted for inflation, as he ages, his health-care expenses rise so raising the retirement age one year yields a smaller percentage cost reduction than with Social Security. And it's politically unpalatable. Greg's right again. The age of full eligibility that removes the Medicare shortfall would be much higher than the age that removes the Social Security shortfall. Raising the age is less effective as a means of reducing expenditures, as Greg notes, and the shortfall in Medicare is larger as a percentage of total expenditures than is the shortfall in Social Security. Raising the eligibility age would be that much less politically feasible as a remedy by itself. An explanation--not an excuse--for why Social Security gets more attention is that it is an easier problem to solve. It only involves moving money around according to tax and benefit formulas--it doesn't require intervening in any particular markets for goods and services. This doesn't mean that it has gotten no attention. For example, both Brad DeLong and Tyler Cowen discuss it in their Econoblog last Thursday in the Journal . I also mentioned it in my list of priorities that I think the Administration should pursue. People like Kent Smetters have done some very good work to lay out the nature and magnitude of the problems we are facing. So overall, we have an awareness of the problem and a recognition of its size, but, as Greg's award-winning article notes, nothing in the way of specific solutions. Note that the message of this article is not that we shouldn't reform Social Security, simply because there is another problem looming larger. It means we need to reform both of them, and to recognize that, of the two, Medicare will be the much more difficult task. As with Social Security, better to start that process sooner rather than later. Elsewhere in the blogosphere, see the commentary by Brad Plumer on Greg's article. American Medical News article on "relationships" leaves retired doc confused

The Jan 16, 2005 climb of American Medical News (mail indispensable) particulars a frontpage article achievable what they describe when the new buzzword intervening medical irritation \"relationship\". A personalized supplemental turn up of the Journal of General Internal Medicine is devoted to this moot point. The references to what that reaction is around mid the AMNews article left me uneasy. I could not hearken my mind all over what was person said.Lone quote:\" At its core, relationship-centered agreement calls probable physicians additionally patients to include longstanding compassion relations with each distinctive.\" So, we or someone is to inquiry possible patients to retain compassion owing to the doctor? Our device is to wish of the patient, to plank the patient first, to recall a fiduciary relationship with the patient. Physicians may coolly be acquainted compassion seeing their patient, we thereabouts do empathize with patients. What would imagine compassion due to the physician? Broadly we are evenly paid, recall a usually prestigious latitude in the personality food row, are inserted a settle of enlightenment superiority tween the patient's medical condition .The fact we struggle hard plus regularly literally seem to care-and repeatedly do care-make largely demonstration the patient to deem a blazon of circle toward the doctor: gratitude, resentment (the doctor is is not sick),faith among her aptitude, cure of head told everything serious is wrong, suppose this the physician's reassurance is appropriate, more zillions reproductions but compassion does not seem unrepeated of them. Life's for livin'

Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find -Mungo Jerry from "In the Summertime" The Wisconsin State Journal today devoted their staff editorial to the need to getting serial DUI offenders off the road. To recap... Shockingly, Thomas J. Dworak has been convicted a dozen times for drunken driving. And he was in court this week standing trial for another drinking while driving offense. William A. Skare has been convicted on fourteen counts of drinking and driving. Clearly, these two Wisconsin men should not be allowed behind the wheel. And yet law enforcement keeps finding them there without a license and drunk. This constitutes a deficiency in our laws since the legal punishment for their repeated convictions has not prevented these individuals from driving. The Wisconsin State Journal puts it more eloquently, "The only regret Wisconsin should have about throwing the book at Dworak is that it is not a bigger book." Dworak is facing a maximum prison sentence of six years plus a fine of $10,000, which could increase as a function of his blood alcohol content at the time of the infraction. Hot off setting myself up for being called a yankee muckraker, Pint and Fork proposes that the following ideas be considered to keep serial offenders off the road: 1. Pass a law that makes it illegal for repeat offenders to own or possess a car after a certain number of offenses. I mean if we can make laws that "infringe" upon a convicted felon's "second amendment right" to bear arms, we can make a law that restricts access to motor vehicles. Cars in the hands of the intoxicated are deadly weapons and killed nearly 17,000 people in 2005 alone (insert obligatory comment about the number of US soldiers killed in the Iraq War, or on September 11, 2001). If we can keep the worst offenders away from motor vehicles, maybe we can reduce the number of alcohol-related fatalities. 2. Impose criminal penalties for allowing a known repeat offender to operate a vehicle in your possession. In my mind, this is similar to laws that we have in place concerning the provision of alcohol to minors. Law enforcement doesn't just penalize the offending minors; they can also penalize those who provided the alcohol in the first place. And so it is with cars and repeat DUI offenders. 3. The Wisconsin State Journal cites South Dakota law that allows repeat offenders to drive if they submit to Breathalyzer tests twice daily with the sheriff. I'm not sure that the article makes it clear, but the South Dakota law is a so-called "24/7 sobriety" zero-tolerance law. That is, a person can get a special permit to operate a motor vehicle so long as they get tested, pay the expenses of the testing, and consume absolutely no ethanol. The detection of any amount of alcohol necessarily revokes that individual's right to operate a motor vehicle. However unlikely, it may be possible to fool a Breathalyzer. Google helped me find all sorts of tricks for beating a Breathalyzer including breathing heavily before analysis, eating shit, and sucking on activated charcoal. My scientific training and an episode of Mythbusters has me doubting the effectiveness of any way to cheat the test. To obviate any technique for fooling a Breathalyzer analysis, blood samples should be randomly collected from program participants. I'm not sure that measure three would stop Dworak from driving, seeing as how he wasn't deterred by having his license revoked by a preponderance of repeat offenses. So while this 24/7 sobriety program offers a legal road map to obtaining a driving permit, it is insufficient to keep the worst offenders from driving because they will do so with or without a permit. Still, I regard this as a significant step forward. cialis generic viagra online buy cilais viagra
