Alpharma Launches Halobetasol Propionate Ointment
FORT LEE, N.J., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alpharma Inc. (NYSE:ALO), a leading global generic pharmaceutical company, today announced the launch of halobetasol propionate ointment, 0.05%. Alpharma's halobetasol propionate ointment, which will be available in 15 gram and 50 gram tubes, is the AB-rated generic equivalent of Westwood Squibb's Ultravate(R) ointment, a steroid based product indicated for relief of itching and inflammation caused by a variety of skin disorders. Ultravate(R) ointment sales in 2004 were approximately $28 million. Ultravate(R) is a trademark of Westwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
